Jeepers Creepers 2, Ginger Snaps,
George Romero
December 11, 2003

The DVD for Jeepers Creepers 2, featuring the always good Rat Wise, will be out in stores on december 23, 2003. The sequel to the excellent Ginger Snaps should be out in theatre in Janyary 2004 for canadians (w00t! For once we get something before anyone else!:p), and sometime else for the rest of the world, while the 3rd installment, called Ginger Snaps back (which is in fact a prequel), is already in the making.

George Romero's upcoming film Diamond Dead will have a soundtrack by Richard Hartley. The name might not be overly familiar to most, but if I tell you he's the guy who made the soundtrack for The Rocky Horror Picture Show it might ring a bell (i know it's ringing out loud in my head right now!). I can't say how excited i am about this! We'll do the Time Warp again! And now, if you want some really juicy stuff, you might want to have a look at Diamond Dead's website, because you see, Romero and Hartley are communicating almost exclusively on the Internet during the filmmaking, so the fans can have a look at the whole process. What's more, fans will even be asked to participate in some choices for the movie! How sweet is that?

So far so good August 02, 2003

10 movies down, 10 to go! So far, most of them were either excellent or pretty good (as you can see from the last few reviews). Praise the lord of Fantasia!

The movie listing needs a major face-lift, i'll try finding time to do it in the next few weeks. Meanwhile, there will be lots of new reviews.

Is that a bunch of tickets in your pocket or are you just happy to see me? July 17, 2003

Fantasia is starting today, i'll be seeing a minimum of 20 movies during the course of a bit more than 3 weeks. See you (and my sanity) back in 3 weeks. Let the marathon begin! Stay tuned for a bunch of reviews soon!

Kane Hodder interview, Resident Evil 2 April 22, 2003

Kane Hodder, famous for his role as Jason, tries to put order into the bunch of rumors concerning Freddy vs Jason. There are rumors of an upcoming Resident Evil 2: Apocalypse(!?).

Jeeper's Creepers 2 trailer, Zombiegeddon April 22, 2003

Jeeper's Creepers 2 trailer can be seen here. The first one had too many flaws for me to enjoy much, but i guess i'll have to give the serie a second chance. A new film called Zombiegeddon(!?), looks promising, with Tom Savini playing Jesus and starring in a sex scene (re-!?).

Fantasia is alive! April 22, 2003

Montrealers will be happy to know that the great Fantasia film festival will happen this year. It will be from july 17 to august 10th. More info

Suspiria to be remade?? April 14, 2003

Or "How i learned to stop worrying and loved remakes". No. Not really, i'll never like remakes just for the fact that they denote a blatant lack of imagination and orignality. Sadly, some big shot retards in their office at the 30th floor think it's a good idea to remake even the movies that couldn't ever benefit from being remade. Suspiria is one of those movies, let's just hope it just stays an "idea". More info

The next Hellraiser installment, Hellraiser: Deader, is apparently mostly done.

News galore March 31, 2003

Now for a medley of real news: House of 1000 corpses to hit theatres April 11, 2003, after many years of being held back because of dumbstruck companies supposed to release it but didn't quite get the point that it was a horror movie. Peter Jackson's next movie will be none other than a remake of King Kong, the film that apparently inspired him to wanna be a film-maker (Read more). There are rumors that Stuart Gordon and Jeffrey Combs will team up for a fourth Re-Animator film, called "House of Re-Animator". "Versus", the Japanese zombie-action-martial-arts flick will be available widely on DVD released by Media Blasters.

Updates, help and apologies March 31, 2003

First and foremost, i'd like to apologize for the lack of update on the site. Due to an excessive amount of work in the last year i haven't been able to update this site (especially the news section) as much as it deserves. If anyone would be interested in giving a hand with the news section i'd gladly accept the help, cause i can't picture myself in the near future having lots of free time for regular news updates. That being said, the categories page got some minor updates, and the repertoire page will soon be re-organized, since the current way of listing movies is not exactly practical when the list gets that long.

Slashers out on DVD:
The good, the bad and the absurd
Sunday, september 15

Slasher, a great canadian splatter movie by Maurice Devereaux is coming out on September 24th in the US with the director's cut (woohoo!), unrated and uncensored (double-woohoo!). That was for the good news.

Now get this, the Toronto based company 49th Parallel have branched out into film distribution with a label called Kaboom and have acquired the English Canada rights to Slashers from the US distributor, but instead of releasing the same version, they have had the film CENSORED, to get a US, R rating. Let me get this straight: A canadian company buys a canadian movie from an american company, and hacks this horror/splatter film that was at its best, removing all the gore to get a US, R rating. As i love to say in front of such an absurdity: WTF???? What the hell are these people thinking? This is a HORROR movie, get it? One of the main purpose is to show gore, to shock and disgust the people who know how to appreciate it. Those people only deserve to have Chainsaw Charlie cut them to pieces. Check out the whole story here, told by the director himself.
