(aka Blood Hunger)
(aka Daughters of Dracula)
(aka Satan's Daughters)
(aka Vampyres: Daughters of Darkness)

José Ramón Larraz (1974, UK)

Cast: Marianne Morris, Anulka Dziubinska, Murray Brown, Brian Deacon, Sally Faulkner, Karl Lanchbury

Plot:
Fran and Miriam are a pair of beautiful vampires who get victims to pull over by hitchhiking. They proceed to bring them back to their house and drink their blood.

Appreciation: 2/10 (for the lesbian scenes and the rare beautiful shots)
This has to be one of the absolute worst movies i've seen, and god knows i've seen alot of low-budget sucky movies. This one is bad, horribly bad.
First off, they must have borrowed the lighting guy from Ed Wood or something. First rule of a vampire movie: vampires are not supposed to wander around in daylight. But here it always seemed either like morning or late afternoon daylight. The characters actually have to tell us what time of day it is, otherwise we could never tell. This alone removed any atmosphere the movie could have had. I was never scared, nor spooked, nor aroused at any time. For a movie that's supposed to be erotic and frightening, seems like they missed their point. The 2 girls looked more like some nymphomaniac wannabe-victorian-goths than actual vampires. Never at any time do we see something that could suggest they are indeed vampires, except that they like to drink blood, but we never get to see fangs.
The sex scenes are a complete turn off, the girls looked like soft-porn actresses, and the guy they let live was as sensual as a caveman can be. In fact, the sex scenes are as erotic as watching pigs fuck in mud. Reading other reviews, it appears that some people really found the movie erotic? Either they're sexually starved or we didn't see the same movie. The acting is just horrible, not even entertaining.
The gore was pretty much inexistent for a vampire movie, which isn’t bad in itself but it could have helped here.
The story hardly made any sense at all. Why would some people camp in a camping car right outside a castle? Didn’t it ever occur to the police to wonder why there’s a car crash at the same exact spot every day?? Usually those things make me laugh but here it just irritated me.
Seriously, the only thing positive about this movie is the rare beautiful scenes right outside the castle. But except for those rare scenes, the rest of the imagery is awful, the whole texture of the film looked like they rubbed sand on it (i saw the movie on big screen, sometime in 2001). This is in-excusable for a movie supposedly beautiful and erotic. It could have been mildly entertaining if only the quality of the film didn't suck that much and if they'd taken men that didn't look like pigs.
To me it really looked like a porn-producer trying to make a vampire movie, and it miserably failed. Only "Orgy of the dead" surpasses the ineptitude of this one in terms of undelivered erotism and horror. If you wanna see real beauty and erotism, watch "The hunger" or instead.
